The Law of Desire

Have any of you (or all of you) seen the new movie "The Secret"? What a powerful film on the laws of attraction, & how we can absolutely draw anything into our lives that we 'desire'.
And therein lies the secret.. that basic energy-induced power of desiring something so much that it permeates our thoughts & minds.

What we love, we 'think' about, & when we give thought to something with enough 'feeling' behind it.. we manifest it! It's as easy as that. (Or as difficult as one wants to make it).

I'm reminded of a time when I was sooo wanting a little Miata sportscar. They had just came out the year before & everyone was just obsessed with their cuteness & chic.
Understand, coming from a marriage with a large family of 6 kids, we had always had vans, stationwagons, or huge 4 door sedans. I was now working on my own, the kids were mostly grown up.. & I ached for something totally unpractical & fun. Hence, my desire for a Miata was born.
At 1st, I would self-talk by saying, 'wow, I really want one of those, but I could never afford it'.
What did the Universe hear? 'I want one of those'.. ok, I'll send her one. Then.. 'Oh no, she doesn't want it.. she says she can't afford it. Cancel that order'.
Step 2 was 'I really want one of those.. why did she get one, when I didn't? That's so unfair.'
My self-doubt & angered 'victim' mode wouldn't work with the Universe either.
Finally, I understood the concept, and when I would see someone proudly driving their Miata, I would bless them & say, 'Good for you. I want one just like that. I'm happy for you, & happy for me that we both get to enjoy our new cars!'
And within a month, I was gifted with a new Miata by my ex-husband. Does it get any better than that?

Perhaps this subject of 'desire' is taboo in some realms of belief. But I truly think that the Bible is right when it says, 'You have not, because you ask not'.
Sort of like the old blonde joke about the girl asking God why she never wins the lottery.. & He suggests that she buy a ticket first.
Desiring something, be it material, physical, emotional.. whatever.. requires that we 'feel' that wanting deep inside. Allowing all our senses to create & visualize this thing in our life.
When I was in my manifesting state of the Miata.. I could 'see' the very model I wanted.
I could 'smell' the new car scent.
I could 'hear' that low rumble of the motor as I shifted through the gears in my mind.
I ran my hands over that soft leather, as I 'felt' what my new car would be like.
I was fully invested in my desire.. & it worked.

For today, allow your mind to peruse the giant catalog of Life. Pick and choose what it is that you most desire.
Create a Visualization board of pictures of what you want to draw into your life.
Don't hold back.. allow yourself the very best!
Write out a Top Ten List of what you most want to manifest for you.
Each day write (by hand) 16 times, at least one of those top 10 things. (It creates a hand to mind connection, that really works).

Get excited.. get passionate.. allow the Law of Desire to work for you!

WHY ME? (2)

It's about time for another episode of Why Me? Not to commiserate with misfortune and bad luck, but to see there is no misfortune, only lessons to learn on the way to finally "getting it."
This week I thought I'd write about broken dreams, promises unkept. It seems when you are young you still believe anything is possible, and then as you get older...you get frustrated maybe even depressed that life is not the bowl of opportunity you expected.
When I was in High School I had big dreams...broadway, lights, Hollywood. Huge dreams for a girl in Oklahoma who didn't even know another actor. This dream was sooo huge, I felt it was bigger than me. So in time and with enough negative belief, I closed the door on that dream and myself. I couldn't bear to lose it...so I walked out on it before it could walk out on me. This never made sense to me on a conscious level so I assigned another excuse to it...I can always act, so I'll go to speech therapy school...that way I won't have to wait tables my whole life.
uh-huh.
But deep beneath the surface was the truth; I was scared out of my mind and I didn't think much of myself or my abilities. I was reading this last night: "Wants are about the most frightening, misunderstood, neglected element in the entire human race, and I'd lay odds that, for most people, just thinking about them is more terrifying that a dentists's chair without painkillers....most of us lay those passions aside as we trudge into the dogmatic Shoulds and Have To's of adulthood...and there we stay, in the bleak sactuary of Sameville, protected by the erroneous belief that if we dream small and nothing happens, we won't be hurt big. Dear God in heaven, what a way we've chosen to live."
Ouch.
My "Why Me?" was living a life away from my passion and desires and feeling the blandness of safety. I had years of Why Me. This was my choice that I made. I stepped toward the safe side instead of venturing out into the world of possibility. What a lesson to learn. It's about courage, perserverance, and belief. I never knew that your dreams could scare you. I didn't know that was "normal", so I took the fear as doubt and ran with it.
In the last few years as an adult I have given myself permission to seek out the nature of my dreams today. Acting? Maybe...spiritual teaching? Oh yeah!
I've always had trouble with creating vision boards...you know, those big poster boards with cut out magazine words, pictures, glitter to make it fabulous. It's supposed to represent your dreams and your life. I always felt like such a fraud doing those. I'd look at them and it never felt real because I still had not given myself permission to dream.
I made one last night.
I have a dream.
It's a beautiful thing.

The Universal Law of Cycles..

Being a woman, we all know 1st hand about 'cycles'. Most of us were born with them. And we forever blame the lunar cycles for the PMS, the full-moon lunacy, and even the births of our offspring. So the Law of Cycles isn't hard for us to buy into. For 'everything there is a season' as the Bible says. And the seasons cycle us on to various pleasures (or pain.. I'm thinking of the snowfalls in upstate NY) throughout the year.

Consider the cycles in your own personal life. The friends that come.. then go.
The soulmates that thrive.. then die off.
The job that was going to be your lifelong career.. then became the anchor in your derrierre.
The house that just fit your dreams.. then lost value in the markets.
Or how about the new friends that replaced the lost ones..
Or the love interest that came into your life at your lowest point..changing your fortunes.
The hobby that became your most productive job ever.
Perhaps the fact that you doubled your equity when you sold that house.

Everything cycles.. nothing is without change, because if it was it would be stagnant & dead.
We are all changing.. all of the time.
Life is a giant cycle.. a constant flow of 'letting go' of the old, & then 'receiving' the new with open arms.
I always chuckle when I see a movie or read a book where the romantic leads say things like, 'Oh baby, don't ever change. I love you just the way your are right here, right now. You complete me.' Because that interchange, while flowery & a good sound-bite, is simply impossible to be true. By the time it is said, that love interest is already changing.. perhaps from simply having heard those words!

Our lesson in all of this is to appreciate the 'here & now'.. love & enjoy the gifts in the precious 'present'.. but don't cling to them because they will not stay in quite the same way.
Don't lose the present by longing for the past.. it has cycled out of your life.
Don't lose the present by pineing for a distant dream in tomorrow. What is yours will come to you.
Just breathe.. just 'BE'.. & allow life's cycles to take you on your own particular journey through this fantastic lifetime.
It's all ebb & flow.
If you are in a tough place right now & nothing seems to be going right.. know that this too shall pass.
It will cycle away from you, & trust the Universe for your Highest Good to come into your life & take it's place.

Allow yourself to be a Spiritual Being..

Cause and Effect

"Law of Cause and Effect -- The elemental patterns of nature exist in balance. Disturbances in these patterns (cause) results in consequential alterations of the patterns of nature (effect.) If the physical body is malnourished, it atrophies. The same is true on the spiritual plane. Nourishment results in strength. To determine why something has come into your life, you simply have to search for the cause of the effect."

Okay, so here is my crazy cause and its unfortunate events:
I crushed so hard on this guy...let's call him...um, Jim Bob. My feelings for him were very strong, so I continued to try and manipulate the forces of nature to get him to feel the same way for me. He was a smart one this Jim Bob...he gave me just enough of a sense of hope to appease me and then...nothin'. This went on for years...6 or so years, but who's counting? Anyway, one day I sat in my lonely apartment and I once again had the thought that I had regularly had about Jim Bob...I felt like a partial person because I accepted less than what I wanted. I took what I could get and I knew I could not ask for more for fear he would be bothered and leave...so I waited and I hoped. The Cause in this situation was that I accepted my position in this partial relationship where the male part quite obviously didn't feel the way I did.
The Effect? A sense of self betrayal and lonliness. I could have empowered myself, I could have made a different choice. In that apartment I wrote a letter to Jim Bob that I never mailed because honestly it was never about him. I still have that letter today. The point of the letter was that I was making a declaration that I finally had decided that I was the one I loved. I chose me. I wanted to feel whole again and the only way to feel whole was to gain my sense of love and respect that I had forgotten when I entered into this so called relationship. When I decided that I could not ask for more and that I had no sense of self value...is when I turned my back on my authenticity and self love. After writing that letter, I put it away and I knew something had shifted. I knew that for once, I was choosing something worthy of all this energy...me. The effect? Other than self esteem and liberation? A real relationship and a real family that I would not have created if I had not made that critical decision in that apartment that day. How about you?

It's all about the Balance

Ever try to sit on a 3-legged stool when one of the legs is missing? Uh-huh.. right to the ground.
That is what happens when we are out of balance in our own lives.
Take the popular Mind/Body/Spirit trilogy.. if I get out of synch & decide to stress my physical limits by say, exercising too much (I know, but this is MY fantasy, ok?). I can become obsessive about my body to the point of forgetting to nurture all other areas of my life..
This creates a disharmony.
The Universe may attempt to jog my memory about my Mind & Spirit needs by gentle ways. (Maybe an invitation to join a Tai Chi class with a friend. Or seeing a really interesting course to take online).
If I persist to ignore the needs for balance.. I may get a more 'jolting' wake-up call.
I'm reminded of my own experience when I was so obsessed with a gym advanced-aerobic class, that even when I broke 2 toes.. I was still attempting to do jumping jacks with the rest of the class! Needless to say those toes never healed right & they are an ongoing reminder to seek 'balance' in all things.

The Universe seeks harmony around us & within us. When life feels as if it's 'flowing'.. we know we are in harmony & balance.
If you feel like it's a struggle, with one obstacle after another.. maybe it's time to release that need-to-control, & allow that benevolent Universe to do it's best work for you.
For today.. let's live in Balance.

WHY ME?

We at Spirit-Works thought we would kick off a regular column on the blog called "Why Me?".
The purpose of "Why Me?" is to demonstrate how each and every situation and occurence in our lives is for purpose and has a lesson attached to it. I thought I'd start it off by producing my own "Why Me?" tidbit.

I have spent many a night asking myself "Why?", why did she say that? why did he do that? I can't believe they chose that choice...and I have finally discovered that I consistently resorted to victim mode in order to meet my needs at the moment. I didn't even realize I was doing it. It was ingrained habit and it was manipulative at times. How did I finally recognize what I was doing? By continuously putting myself into situations where I was not treated well, by being taken for granted, and by not acting on my dreams...I had to wonder what the common denominator was.
I attracted these situations into my life due to the law of attraction. My beliefs brought me to all of my reality...but if I had not drawn those things to myself I would not have learned more about what I do to survive. So I became more aware of my part in relating to others and my world. I could have easily turned the finger toward those people I had attracted into my realm, but I would have lost the lesson. I would not have taken personal responsibility for my part in contributing to my less that ideal situations...and I would not have had the opportunity to change it and become a better person. Does anyone have a why me moment???

Practicing the Law of Abundance

I'm hoping that my sweet daughter won't mind my re-telling this story about a Psychic Fair experience that we had back in the early 90's in AZ.
She called herself the 'Angel Lady', and surrounded her little booth with angel candles, and I'm a sucker for those cute things.
So Angela & I sat at her booth and listened to her words.
She said, 'To receive something wonderful in your life, you have to make room for it. If you say you want a beautiful new sofa in your living room, but you are perfectly satisfied to have the shabby futon taking up it's space.. then you will not see the new one come into your life.
If you say you want to be driving a new Cadillac, but are seemingly happy to be plodding through town in a broken down Ford pick-up, that Cadillac will elude you.
In that same vein, when you say you want your soulmate to come into your life, but your romantic life has some lingering relationship that isn't blessing you.. then you need to move that relationship out of the way to prepare for the abundance of what God has for you.'
She looked into Angela's eyes and said, 'It is now October.. by the holidays, if you have opened up to receive the gift, there will be a new man in your life. He has light hair and blue eyes. He will be the mate to your soul. And the new year will see you welcoming a new soul into your home.'
Like most readings, we filed this message away in our hearts.. but something clicked, & the old relationship was ended by my daughter.
The very next month, she met the man of her dreams.. and 1995 brought a precious grandson into our lives.

The 'message' from this story? (Other than always trust the sweet 'angel ladies with candles'? ;o)
Make room for Abundance in your life! Pressed down, shaken together.. filled to the top!
Don't become complacent with the status quo. We are children of the Divine & it is our birthright to have every good thing.

For today, let your mantra be, 'I AM OPEN TO ABUNDANCE!'

Serendipity! Love that Synchronicity..

Don't you love it when things start clicking together.. and since you don't believe in mere coincidence, you know that it's all 'ordered' by a benevolent Universe? Yeah, like that..
Me too!

My Master's thesis was the comparison of Carl Jung's dreamwork vs. Freud's view & works. You can imagine the one that I championed. He had me at 'synchronicity'.
Our pals at Wikipedia describe that bit of magic this way..

Synchronicity is a word that Swiss psychologist Carl Jung used to describe the "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events." Jung spoke of synchronicity as an "'acausal connecting principle'" (i.e. a pattern of connection that cannot be explained by direct causality) a "‘meaningful coincidence’" or as an "‘acausal parallelism’".
Put plainly, synchronicity is the experience of two or more occurrences (beyond coincidentally) in a manner that is logically meaningful- but inexplicable- to the person or persons experiencing them. Such events would also have to suggest an underlying pattern in order to satisfy the definition of synchronicity as developed by Jung.
It differs from mere coincidence in that synchronicity implies not just a happenstance, but an underlying pattern or dynamic that is being expressed through meaningful relationships or events.

Ta da! As metaphysicians, we begin not only enjoying these 'aha!' events, but begin anticipating them. And they never fail to appear. Utter coolness.
And so yesterday when I stumbled (excuse me, was lead to) this nice website www.wisdomteachers.com , I signed up for their newsletter (which I encourage all of you to do, as well.. fantastic articles & motivational tools). As a free gift for signing up.. that's right.. more synchronicity.. I was given the most wonderful e-book by a truly inspirational gentleman, Dr. Dennis Merritt Jones. 6 printed pages of sheer genius in truth.
However, don't take my word for it. Check out the site, including Dr. D's own websites: www.DennisMerrittJones.com and www.onespirit.org/church .
Believe me, if I were in Simi Valley, CA., I would be attending those services. Second best is reading his works. So take some time on those sites & tell me what you think..

An Overview..

Here is an overview of the Metaphysical Universal Laws. The "laws" are in action all the time, whether you heed them or not. Like the 'Higher Power', they just Are. You can use these Laws for your higher good, each & every day. Take a look at them & see what resonates with you..
* References here are made to the Bible. We all know there are many other books just as Divine & meaningful. But for this overview, consider this reference. Thanks..
~~~~
Law of Abundance -- Within the universe, abundant resources exist, with resources flowing through the energies of giving and receiving. If you are in need of something, make your life ready to receive it. The universe will recognize the opening and fill it with abundance. Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you
Law of Attraction -- You attract to yourself that which you put the energy of your thoughts into. If you desire something, you can attract it to you by positively anticipating its arrival into your life. Alternately, you can attract that which you do not want into your life by giving negative energy to your thoughts of receiving it. Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Law of Balance -- For every action there is a reaction. The energy of the universe is continuously flowing from action to reaction in search of balance to achieve harmony.
Law of Cause and Effect -- The elemental patterns of nature exist in balance. Disturbances in these patterns (cause) results in consequential alterations of the patterns of nature (effect.) If the physical body is malnourished, it atrophies. The same is true on the spiritual plane. Nourishment results in strength. To determine why something has come into your life, you simply have to search for the cause of the effect.
Law of Cycles -- All of life exists in cycles. For everything there is a beginning, an existence, and an end. Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Law of Desire -- What one desires, he wills to be. What he wills to himself, he first desired. To achieve one's goals in life, one must desire them. Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Law of Dharma (Purpose of Life) -- Each living thing has a purpose for existence and a special experience to provide to this world. Utilizing our unique talents in service of others exalts our spirits to attain our ultimate goals. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Law of Energy -- All is energy.
Law of Forgiveness (Law of Mercy) -- To be forgiven, we must forgive. Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Law of Free Will and Predestination -- We are free to choose our direction. Predestination determined what our destiny in life would be, if we choose to fulfill that destiny. Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Law of Giving -- Giving and receiving are part of the exchange that perpetuates the energy flow of the universe. As we are receptive to the premise of giving that which we desire to receive, the abundance of the universe is perpetuated in our lives. You must give in order to receive, and you must receive in order to give. The energy of each is equal, and the universe will respond to either with a pull of the energy of the other. Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Law of Gratitude -- Positive energy that is given eventually returns with rewards.
Law of Harmony -- All things must exist in harmony within the universe.
Law of Healing -- Healing energy is within us. Divine power turns on the healing energy within us to heal us and to pass through us to heal others.
Law of Help -- Ask and you will receive help. When other ask you for help, give it.
Law of Increase -- What we put the energy of our thoughts into will increase. To obtain increase we must maintain an attitude of increase toward others. We must rejoice in their joy as they receive increase.
Law of Karma -- What we send forth into the universe comes back to us. We reap positive rewards for our good deeds and negative consequences of our misdeeds. "All that we are is the result of what we have thought, it is founded on Thought, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man acts or speaks with all evil thought, pain follows him as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the chariot." Galations 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Law of Love -- Love unconditionally all living things and all spiritual things. Love the essence of all matter. Sending love from the depths of your heart and soul ensure that love will come back to you. The universe will restore your love sent forth. It may not always come back from the one you sent it to; but your love will always be replenished.
Law of Manifestation -- The spirit is manifested in the flesh. Only through this manifestation can one come to know oneself.
Law of One (Oneness) -- All that exists is part of God.
Law of Permanence -- An entity attains permanence when it remains integrated without the vessel that holds it.
Law of Polarities -- For everything there is an opposite which is equal.
Law of Praise -- Praise the creator in all things, good and bad. Giving praise to divinity exalts us. We are all Divine.
Law of Prayer ( or petition) -- Prayer is the catalyst that initiates a divine reaction. Prayer changes things. Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Law of Productivity -- Turning the energy of our thoughts and of our work into a physical product is the process of productivity. Productivity brings growth and rewards.
Law of Progress -- Everything is either progressing or regressing. Nothing stands still.
Law of Reflection -- "As above, so below." The universe will reflect back that which shines forth into it.
Law of Release -- You are bound to that which you do not release. Release that which is holding you down. Release it to the higher power to be released in minute, benign particles disseminating into the infinite universe.
Law of Speech -- There is power in the spoken word. Thought forms the blueprint for reality, and speaking power into the blueprint brings that thought into the physical world. To say something is to make it real.
Law of Symbols -- Symbols carry the meaning of messages from our guides. Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Law of Thought -- You are what you think. Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Law of Transmutation (Divine Discontent) -- Light dissolves darkness.
Law of Vibration -- Everything is always in motion.
Law of Vision -- Vision is foresight and/or foreknowledge. What you can envision can become real.
Welcome to a new Blog!
Hello from the co-founders of Spirit-Works.net..
This seemed like a good venue to share things spiritual, maybe answer a few questions or perhaps stimulate a deeper quest for even more questions. Like the journey, the delving for more knowledge is not the destination.. and it's time to have more fun in experiencing the Path along the way.
Tomorrow I'd like to post something on the 1st Universal Law "Like Attracts Like".
So those of you who stumble upon these humble posts.. welcome, & drop by often to say hello!
